ABB to deliver shore power at Lerwick for NorthLink ferries
ABB will install shore power at Holmsgarth Berth 3 in Lerwick, giving NorthLink ferries shore connections at both ends of the Aberdeen–Lerwick route.

ABB Marine & Ports UK will design, install and commission a shore power system at Holmsgarth Berth 3 in Lerwick. Together with the installation commissioned in Aberdeen earlier in 2026, it will let NorthLink ferries plug in at both ends of the crossing. CMAL and Transport Scotland are funding the project, which is expected to take about 14 months from contract award.
