Poland's Remontowa Shipbuilding laid the keels for the fourth and fifth of seven small ferries for Caledonian Maritime Assets (CMAL) at its Gdańsk yard on 8 October. The ships belong to Scotland's small vessel replacement programme and will be fully electric, serving the Clyde and Hebrides network on routes such as Colintraive–Rhubodach, Iona–Fionnphort and Tayinloan–Gigha. The yard says the second ferry, the future Loch Etive, is ready for launch, and the first, Loch Awe, is due for delivery towards the end of 2027. Five of the seven are now under construction, with a new hull started every three months. Six will carry up to 150 passengers and 24 cars, and one will carry 250 passengers and 16 cars.
