In a 24 September statement, Interferry said the Commission's proposed EU ETS revision could accelerate maritime decarbonisation if it secures onshore power and grid capacity at passenger ports. The association called for 100% of maritime ETS revenues to be ring-fenced for maritime decarbonisation, warned that the proposed SMAP mechanism (about €1 billion a year) may be oversubscribed, and asked for a predictable route for zero-emission operators to access funding in advance.
