The Committee for Economic Development has given in-principle approval to Brittany Ferries’ timetable for winter 2026–27 and summer 2027, through 31 October 2027. From 1 November the conventional Portsmouth service rises from six days a week to daily, mixing direct sailings with a triangular routing via Cherbourg. Winter bookings are open from 1 November 2026 to 21 March 2027.
The new Guernsey–Cherbourg passenger connection is around three and a half hours. Passengers on Guernsey–Portsmouth sailings routed via Cherbourg need a passport for UK re-entry. That applies Wednesday to Sunday in winter and Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday in summer. Direct Portsmouth sailings, and all sailings from Portsmouth to Guernsey, are not affected. The Voyager schedule between Saint-Malo, Guernsey and Poole is unchanged.
With Cherbourg added, Guernsey has sea links to five ports: Portsmouth, Poole, Cherbourg, St Malo and Jersey. The committee said passenger and freight capacity stays protected under the contract. The arrangements remain subject to final border-control technical integration. Brittany Ferries chief executive Christophe Mathieu said the Cherbourg link connects with the company’s daily Cherbourg–Bayonne rail service for unaccompanied hauliers.
