Explore Group is running the Auckland–Coromandel ferry again for 2026–27, with Thames-Coromandel District Council. RNZ said the service starts on 23 October, ahead of Labour Weekend, on Friday to Monday, then runs daily from 27 November until Easter.
The daily sailing leaves Auckland’s Viaduct at 9.15am and arrives at Hannaford’s Wharf at 11:45am. The return leaves at 3.15pm and reaches Auckland at 5.35pm. An extra Friday sailing leaves Auckland at 4.45pm and Coromandel at 7pm. An adult return is $135, and a return for ages five to 15 is $67.50. A Waiheke Island sailing leaves at 10.45am and returns at 4.05pm.
Explore Group managing director William Goodfellow said the timetable gives Aucklanders a day trip or a longer stay without a car, and gives Coromandel residents more choices for travel into Auckland. The service was previously run by Fullers, which stopped it in 2022.
