Moby will keep the passenger and freight service between Genoa and Porto Torres, operated under public-service obligations, for another five years. Shipping Italy, citing the limited information released by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, said the contract went to Moby itself on a bid of EUR 24,124,949, against a tender base of EUR 34,304,939. The total contract value, including bonuses and a possible 36-month extension, is EUR 54,887,902. The paper said it was not known whether other operators bid.

The contract runs from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2031. Sailings between 1 October and 31 May are daily and overnight, departing no earlier than 19:00 and arriving no later than 08:00, with a maximum crossing of 11 hours. The line is to use two ships no older than 25 years, each able to carry at least 1,100 people and with 1,200 lane metres of garage for trailers. The specification calls for 243 pairs of sailings a year and a total distance of 104,004 miles.
